A growing body of research shows that the opportunity gap narrows when more students have the chance to be connected both to the learning process and to their own outlook, experience, and talents through the arts. When students and teachers are more deeply engaged through the arts, teacher collaboration increases and school climate is improved.
Sarah Peters has been working to integrate and strengthen arts instruction in rural elementary and middle schools with the goal of improving student academic performance, reasoning skills, creative thinking and engagement.
In June 2019, we will be offering a day-long professional development session which will introduce, model and engage participants in integrated arts through
image-based improvisation, storytelling, and micro script-writing techniques.
